Mauricio Umansky Has 'Metal Plate and 12 Screws' Fitted During Surgery After Breaking His Clavicle in Ski Accident

Mauricio Umansky is sharing an update on his health after breaking his clavicle while skiing in Aspen, Colorado.

On Sunday, Feb. 16, the Buying Beverly Hills star, 54, revealed in an Instagram post that he'd undergone surgery following the accident and had to have a metal plate put in, as well as 12 screws.

"Thank you to everyone who has reached out," Umansky wrote in orange and white letters over a photo of some skis, adding a prayer emoji. "I have felt so much love and support."

"I had surgery on my clavicle it was a clean break but required a metal plate and 12 screws," he added.

The real estate agent went on, “I expect a speedy recovery. The doctors and nurses at Aspen Valley Hospital are the best." 

"I was wearing a helmet and that for sure saved me,” Umansky concluded.

Umansky's update comes after he shared a series of posts to his Instagram Stories on Feb. 14, including snaps of himself in a hospital gown and wearing a nasal cannula.

“I feel so blessed to be taken care of by such amazing humans. Ski patrol, Paramedics, Aspen Hospital you’re all the best. Broken Clavicle,” Umansky wrote.

He also shared an X-ray of the injury, confirming that he'd need to have surgery.

“Let’s get this surgery done so I can heal,” he wrote over the image, adding, “Play hard sometimes you get hurt but the care here has been incredible.”

The reality TV star also shared a video clip of himself looking somber while being led down the ski slope on a rescue toboggan by emergency responders

Umansky spent the 2024 holidays in Aspen and was joined by his estranged wife Kyle Richards, 56, and their three daughters — Alexia Simone, 28, Sophia Kylie, 25, and Portia, 16 — during the trip. Richards is also mom to Farrah Brittany, 36, with ex-husband Guraish Aldjufrie.

In a TikTok video posted on Dec. 22, Sophia gave a peek at how they'd been spending their vacation by documenting her family's experience watching the Wicked film adaptation starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. The family seemed to love the movie, but Umansky admitted he left in the middle of it.

In November, Richards confirmed to PEOPLE that she and her family would be in Aspen – where they have a vacation home — for Christmas, explaining that they planned to go skiing. They also celebrated the winter holiday in Aspen in December 2023 amid Richards and Umansky's separation, which PEOPLE confirmed in July 2023. The pair had been married for 27 years.
