Max Domi obliterates Lane Hutson with a crosscheck to the face

Max Domi and the Toronto Maple Leafs have a big season ahead and fans are interested to see what kind of campaign Domi will deliver.

Unfortunately, tonight was not going so well for him as the Toronto Maple Leafs took on their biggest rivals, the Montreal Canadiens. It has been a spirited tilt with many twists and turns so far. However, Domi found himself in the penalty box for a truly bone-headed play that has gotten a lot of fans upset with him.

Below, you can see that Lane Hutson, a highly-touted prospect for the Habs, was passing the puck near his net. When he dished the pass, Domi drove in and gave Hutson a cross-check right to the face. Subsequently, Hutson crashed to the ground and even took out his goaltender in the process.

It was a dirty play and one that Maple Leafs fans are most certainly going to disprove. After all, how could you do something like that knowing the consequences? It also doesn't help that the Leafs are under scrutiny thanks to the boneheaded play from Nick Robertson that led to an injury to William Nylander.

The Leafs need to get things going this season, especially when it comes time for the playoffs. But so far in the preseason, they have been victims of a comedy of errors. Only time will tell whether or not they can overcome what appears to be some truly bad luck out here.
