May 15 DAYS Recap: Philip Botches the Heist, Xander Explodes, and Tate Crashes Sophia’s Birthday!

Collage of the Thursday, May 15 episode of Days of Our Lives, with the Soap Hub logoOperation Steal Versivex was on.

On Thursday, May 15, another sad birthday party went down on Days of Our Lives. Tate threw a two-person party for Sophia’s 18th birthday. Then he caught a fever and became completely queasy, ending his makeshift shindig early. Alex wondered if Xander could ever give Philip a second chance. Marlena found out that the ISA was closing in on John’s location. And Operation Steal Versivez took off on two separate fronts.

Operation Buy the Hospital

Now we see why Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) recently had that emergency allergic reaction to the pistachio milk in that scone. It was to give Xander (Paul Telfer) leverage with Paulina (Jackée Harry) and Abe (James Reynolds). Of course, he really didn’t want to sue Sweet Bits for Chanel’s (Raven Bowens) careless and distracted mistake.

When Paulina brought him a perfectly nut-free dessert from Sweet Bits, she and Xander got down to the heart of the matter. Abe is on the hospital board, and Xander wants his vote. Paulina agreed on one condition that was music to our ears. He would need to give Theo (last played by Cameron Johnson) a job at Titan-DiMera. Does this mean Theo is about to return? He has the skills to make him a valuable asset to Titan-DiMera so please make this happen, Show.

Operation Steal Versivex

Oh, Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier). We get what he’s doing. He’s killing two birds with one stone. He wants the Versivex for Bo (Peter Reckell), yes. However, he also wants to redeem himself in Xander’s eyes. He wants to serve the hospital and the Versivex to his half-brother on a silver platter so that he will forgive him for his sins.

Xander’s anger is full on. He won’t contemplate giving Philip a second chance, even though he’s been afforded numerous chances for doing things much worse than Philip has done. But Xander’s kicking himself for letting Philip in, and he won’t let those walls down anytime soon.

So Philip and Kevin (Chadwick Hopson) took advantage of A) Dr. Russell (Michael Dietz) being at the conference and B) the cameras temporarily not working, thanks to Steve (Stephen Nichols) and Shawn’s plan. Here’s the thing. Nothing Philip ever plans goes smoothly, and this was no different.

Kevin did have a smart but time-consuming idea: to siphon a small dose of Versivex from each of the vials so nobody would immediately see that a whole dose of the drug was gone. But when he sensed somebody about to enter the laboratory (Steve and Shawn), he got out of there with the entire Versivex load.

On top of that, Dr. Russell decided to abandon the conference, and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) purposely sent him to get out of the way. Now Kevin and Philip are stuck with the entire load of vials, Dr. Russell is on his way back, and Steve and Shawn (Brandon Beemer) got bubkus. Shawn is stressed, and frankly, so is Philip. Xander doesn’t want to hear anything about Philip going behind his back, and that’s exactly what he did. His actions could put the purchase in jeopardy. Xander’s about to find out since he’s talking to Dr. Frame, head of DiMera Pharmaceuticals.

Will Kevin work it out and return the vials before Russell returns?

Is it just us, or does it seem like Tate isn’t into Sophia (Rachel Boyd) at all?
