Love Island host Maya Jama kept smiling after grabbing breakfast in London with boyfriend Stormzy on Wednesday (12 June) morning, despite returning to the grime star’s car and discovering they had been given a parking ticket.
The presenter, dressed in a white asymmetric skirt, baseball cap and warm jacket, smiled as she pointed out the tell-tale yellow sticker on Stormzy’s car, which was parked in a loading only bay on busy Rosslyn Hill in Hampstead, north west London.
It’s not the first time that the rapper has been caught parking where he shouldn’t. In October last year, the couple had enjoyed a romantic dinner at Humo restaurant in London’s West End but the night ended with them finding out Stormzy had been given an £80 parking ticket for leaving his Rolls-Royce parked on a double yellow line.
It’s a jam-packed summer ahead for both of them. While Maya is busy presenting all the juicy gossip from the Love Island villa in Majorca, Stormzy has just launched House Party, a new concept in immersive entertainment. Along with the events collective The Cream Group, he has transformed a central London venue into a classic family home, complete with kitchen, bathrooms and roof terrace so partygoers can experience all the different elements of a classic house rave – even down to a nosey Dad patrolling the premises.
Other features include a room dedicated to Joey and Chandler from Friends, complete with lazy boy reclining chairs, a mini fridge and a phone to order pizza from, and a 1990s black BMW (Stormzy’s first car) that has been lowered into the basement. Ahead of the launch, Stormzy told the press: “I’ve always loved the energy of a classic house party – it’s where the best memories are made. We wanted to create a nostalgic experience where everyone is welcome, and no two nights are the same.”
“We all know everyone wants to go to a house party, nobody really wants to host one – and this is exactly what this house is for.”
Maya and Stormzy were both at the launch party on Thursday 6 June, cementing their status as a celebrity power couple. The pair have a long history – they spent four years together before splitting up in 2019, and reunited last year following a holiday on the Greek island of Hydra.
Stormzy was reportedly encouraged to win Maya back by the other significant lady in his life, his mum Abigail Owuo. He is said to have flown Maya out in a private helicopter to the island and organised a secluded villa with private chef and spectacular views overlooking the sparkling Aegean Sea in what turned out to be a successful attempt to win her back.
