The Buffalo Bills' offense was one of the best in football last season, and that was with Khalil Shakir leading the way.

McDermott Gives Brutally Honest Scouting Report On Top Rookie

But the Bills hoped to get more from their top draft pick in receiver Keon Coleman.

The rookie started his season well, posting receiving yards totals of 51, 51, 49, 125 and 70 in his first eight games, but a wrist injury derailed him, forcing him to miss four games, and once he returned, he never got going, not surpassing 31 yards in his last six games.

Now, as head coach Sean McDermott looks back on Keon's first season, he was rather honest in what he thought.

"As far as Keon goes, I thought he had an up and down first season. I really do, and I mentioned that after the year," McDermott said via NFL.com. "I thought he got off to a start that he built momentum through, and then he got injured, and then from there on, it was rather rocky, I would say. We're looking for him to learn from those moments of adversity, and come back and have a really strong offseason, and get himself going into the start of Season 2 here."

While Coleman had a rocky season overall, he still posted 556 yards and four touchdowns from just 29 receptions. Among fellow rookies, Keon finished eighth in yards and yards per game and ninth in touchdowns.

So while there were some inconsistencies, Keon still had a solid season, but going by McDermott's words, the franchise expects far more heading into his Sophomore season.

With the Bills reportedly needing more receiver help, Coleman might be third string on the depth chart behind Shakir and whoever the franchise decides to bring in, and that might help the rookie as the defense won't be zeroing in on him.

Either way, Coleman had a so-so rookie campaign, and his head coach is looking for more production in Year 2.
