Assistant coach Michael Peca will not return to the New York Rangers as he’s set to join the Chicago Blackhawks.
This news comes on the same day that the Blackhawks officially hired Jeff Blashill to be the team’s head coach.
Peca spent the last two seasons with the Rangers under Peter Laviolette.
According to Mollie Walker of The New York Post, after discussions with both Peca and new Rangers head coach Mike Sullivan, the organization felt this was the best decision for both parties.
It’s unclear who Sullivan expects to add as an assistant coach on his staff in New York.
