Michael Penix Jr. Receives High Praise From The Face Of The NFL

Recently, the current golden child of the NFL interviewed with USA Today and had high praise for Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr.

During an interview with Patrick Mahomes, Cory Woodroof of USA Today's "For the Win" would discuss the second-year quarterback for Atlanta. Mahomes would praise Penix Jr. in saying, "He's a great football player, man. I watched him actually when he was at Indiana, and then going over to Washington, and how much success he had, and then at the end of last season, I thought he did a great job."

Mahomes would also say, "And so, he can throw the football as good as anybody. He's going to keep getting better and better in the NFL." Penix Jr. does have a cannon attached to his left arm. His arm strength is a big part of why the Falcons would surprisingly select him in the 1st round of the NFL Draft after signing Kirk Cousins just prior.

Mahomes would also speak on Atlanta as a whole, and how they have tried to build depth on both sides of the ball to set Penix Jr. up for success saying "Atlanta has a lot of great players, and so, I think, for them, I think it's just trying to keep building on the culture that Coach Morris established there this first season, and they'll have a great chance."

The path to success has been made easier in Atlanta, and Penix Jr. doesn't have to have an MVP-type of year for the team to get over the playoff drought. Kyle Pitts will be a huge target to watch during a contract year, that is, if he can get the targets. Penix Jr. and Drake London have already developed a good bit of chemistry throughout the last three games of the season last year, in which Penix Jr. started, as well as in mini-camp.
