With the Minnesota Vikings preparing to compete in the 2025 NFL season, Jordan Addison made it to the headlines and to the spotlight, but the reasons behind this were entirely different.
Addison had a 2024 DUI citation that has been formally set to trial by a jury on July 15, two weeks before the Vikings are scheduled to begin training camp in Eagan. The charges come from an incident last July, when Addison was caught asleep at the wheel in the vicinity of LAX airport in California. There are two misdemeanors against him, including driving under the influence and driving with a blood-alcohol concentration that exceeds the legal limit.

Although Addison pleaded not guilty, the NFL might still issue a suspension of several games or at least three games based on the pending trial or eventual plea agreement. A possible suspension would bench the 22 year old when the Vikings are about to mount a push to the NFC North title.
However, the legal matter does not seem to have affected Addison on the field as his play is still as good as before.
Jordan Addison has been one of the most promising players when it comes to mandatory minicamp. Addison flourished in his first time on the field with starting QB J.J. McCarthy, as he made highlight-reel catches and clean route-running seem par for the course. Even McCarthy mentioned he will stay in Minnesota through the break to work further with Addison, a potential relationship, the club is optimistic that it will not only grow but will prosper down the line.
Addison is coming off back-to-back 10-touchdown seasons and has already proven he’s more than a complementary piece to Justin Jefferson. If he stays on the field, Addison could take another leap forward and become a core pillar of the Vikings’ offensive future.
Nevertheless, even though a court date has been set only days before training camp, one still does not know what will happen to Addison during the off-season. Fans will have their eyes glued to what happens in court as well as whether Addison and McCarthy will prolong their initial chemistry in the regular season.
