Minnesota Wild 2024 NHL Draft Target: Sacha Boisvert

Continuing the Minnesota Wild Draft Target series, today we look at Muskegon Luberjacks forward Sacha Boisvert.

Sacha Boisvert, the Lumberjacks' 16-year-old rookie, is already scoring and 'living up to the hype' - Muskegon Lumberjacks

The native of Canada decided to go the USHL and NCAA route instead of playing Juniors in Canada. He has played in the USHL the last two years with the Lumberjacks and has put up great numbers. Boisvert will be on his way to the NCAA with North Dakota next season.

Boisvert is a bigger center who produced in the USHL. In 61 games for Muskegon, he recorded 36 goals, 68 points, and had 86 penalty minutes.

There are parts of his game that needs some work, like any prospect, but going to a program like North Dakota will do wonders for him.

Ryan Kennedy with The Hockey News has Boisvert at 19 on his top 120 rankings for the 2024 NHL Draft.

2024 NHL Draft Preview: Forward Sacha Boisvert, Canada

"He's smart, has good compete, and plays well in all three zones," one scout said. "He's got underrated skill to make plays. He creates chances and he's got good speed with the puck. There's a lot to like with this kid."

If the Wild were to trade the 13th overall pick to move back in the draft and pick up another pick in the later rounds, Boisvert would be a solid option to Minnesota to draft.

The 6-foot-2 center played with Matvei Gridin, whom we wrote about earlier as a potential option for the Wild in the draft, and the two took off together with the Lumberjacks.

"He works and has a really good stick," another scout told Kennedy. "Boisvert has a really good shot and release as well. He and Gridin feed off each other. Boisvert is more well-rounded."

Most prospects, at this age, struggle with using their body to their advantage. Not Boisvert. He uses his size and reach to his advantage and that can translate to the NHL. There is hope he can become a top-six center as a two-way forward. Kennedy has the former Wild center Charlie Coyle as a comparison for Boisvert.
