Mitch Marner's incredible gesture leaves Leafs fans buzzing about his future with the team

Toronto Maple Leafs star winger Mitch Marner was in MacTier, Ontario for the opening of a new playground funded in part by his 'Marner Assist Foundation'.

Marner was on hand to officially open the new playground, located at MacTier Public School, with his foundation having helped in the funding for the project, along with the Shania Twain Foundation.

Many students and other youngsters from the local community at the event wore Leafs jerseys in celebration for being close to Marner, which took place on the morning of August 30th.

Mitch Marner, 27, is in the final year of his current contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs, without an extension in place for next season. Marner had 26 goals, 59 assists & 85 points in 69 games for the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2023-24 season.

The Ontario-born Marner has expressed a desire to stay in Toronto with the Maple Leafs, but the team has not made it clear what their intent is for keeping Marner in Toronto or not.

Whether or not he'll be returning to the team or not, Marner's foundation is continuing in community development with the star still a public figure in the local area.

Photos from the event were shared by the foundation on Instagram.
