In Sunday’s edition of Bailey’s Daily, we’ll be talking the latest Philadelphia Flyers news, NHL news, stories, highlights, and more from the last day.

Philadelphia Flyers news

Flyers News

This isn’t exactly Philadelphia Flyers news or anything of the like, but it should be exciting to hear nonetheless.

On Saturday evening, we found that Flyers rookie Matvei Michkov was, at the very least, spending the day in Philadelphia with his mom Maria, brother Prohor, and new teammate Egor Zamula, as posted on Matvei’s Instagram account. Maria Michkov stood between Zamula and her two sons holding a massive bouquet of flowers, celebrating her birthday. Happy birthday, Maria!

This is also the final confirmation that the Michkov family had arrived in Philadelphia, though I was pretty certain they had arrived at least a week ago. Danny Briere had said at Michkov’s introductory press conference that the plan was for the Flyers to bring them over around 4-to-6 weeks ahead of time, though it seems they were more than willing to make the grueling, long trip across the world early.

Additionally, this also confirms that Zamula is back in North America after spending virtually his entire offseason in Russia ahead of what will be his second full season with the Flyers in Philadelphia.

NHL News

For those keeping track, Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog is still holding out hope for a miraculous return to the ice at some point in the 2024-25 season, with Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar revealing that “[Landeskog is] trying to make a return here sometime near the start of the season,”.

In that same interview, though, Bednar conceded that top-six winger Artturi Lehkonen may not be ready before the start of the season.

In a move that has mostly flown under the radar in the last few days, the Washington Capitals are bringing back old friend Jakub Vrana on a professional tryout agreement after a difficult few years for the winger in Detroit and St. Louis.
