9-1-1: Nashville's new set video reveals the spinoff show's replacement for fan-favorite Buck, in Hunter McVey's strapping new firefighter. During 9-1-1 season 8, ABC announced a straight-to-series order for 9-1-1: Nashville, and the show is set to premiere in the 2025-26 broadcast season.

The series is starting to flesh out its cast list, with household names such as NCIS: Los Angeles star Chris O'Donnell, and Grey's Anatomy alum Jessica Capshaw. McVey is a recent addition to the cast list, with the model set to make his acting debut as a firefighter when the show premieres.

The 9-1-1 News X account posted a BTS video of McVey narrating his daily routine whilst filming on set from the actor's Instagram Stories. McVey gives a voiceover with some of the highlights from behind-the-scenes, including taking a break to eat, and hanging out with castmates. It is clear from McVey's physique and appearance that he will be "the Buck" of 9-1-1: Nashville. Check out the clip below:

What This Means For 9-1-1: Nashville

Blue Is Set To Be The Buck Archetype

There are bound to be a lot of differences between 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Nashville, such as the importance of music, and its role in the show. However, there are also going to be similarities and archetypes that match throughout both shows, and the fact that Blue will mirror Buck is a great example of this.McVey's character, Blue, is described as "a haunted bad boy, now a firefighter," which is essentially the prototype of the character of Oliver Stark's fan-favorite, Evan "Buck" Buckley. Buck is the defacto lead of 9-1-1, and the character is hugely popular with audiences, as well as other characters within the show.

9-1-1: Nashville's story could be set to explore the background of its characters, and delve deep into the psyche of troubled individuals like Blue. His haunted bad boy archetype could see him in multiple romantic entanglements, as well as a strained relationship with his family, and difficulties with authority figures.

Our Take On How Blue Can Mirror Buck In 9-1-1: Nashville

Blue Is Sure To Evolve As The Show Progresses

How much of a prominent role Blue is going to play in 9-1-1: Nashville is unclear at this stage, but the character is sure to evolve as the show progresses. His character seems like he will be a blend between Buck and Bode from Fire Country - a former bad boy who also has a difficult past he is trying to escape.

9-1-1 season 9 is going to continue Buck's journey, and there is a good chance that Blue's journey will be very similar to his. It will be interesting to see whether Blue starts out on the show in a very similar place to what Buck did in the 9-1-1 pilot. Blue should grow a lot as the show progresses, and will be vital to the evolution of 9-1-1: Nashville.
