Guzman has long wanted Eddie to move past Shannon in a healthy way. Eddie has been obsessed with his late wife, and retrospective framing has had him worshiping her to the point of seeking out her doppelgänger. When Guzman spoke to Collider's Therese Lacson while Season 7 was airing, he hoped Eddie would be kinder to himself. Below is what he said:
"I would love to have Eddie explore more of what he just started in this deconstruction of what love is and find a little bit more self-love for himself, to understand that I got to move past what I thought Shannon and I were going to be, and I got to fall in love with who I am right now, and soon as I do that, then the partner that's meant for me will find themselves and find me at the same time."
What Do We Know About '9-1-1' Season 9?
Details about the upcoming season remain scarce, as production commenced just a few weeks ago. However, we anticipate the continued exploration of the problem brought on by Bobby's (Peter Krause) demise, which shook everyone in the show and the real world. The firehouse will be looking for a new captain as they adjust to the new leadership, which differs from what they were accustomed to under Bobby. The characters will also deal with personal arcs ranging from relationship drama to work trauma and family pressures. Viewers will have to tune in to ABC this fall to watch the season.
