New Orleans Saints free agency predictions: What could be ahead for Kellen Moore's team after Derek Carr contract restructure

The New Orleans Saints have an itntriguing free agency period ahead of them. With minimal cap space, many think they won't be very active in the next week.

That being said, some more restructures and potential cuts could pave the way to some notable additions for the Saints on both sides of the football. I carved out a handful of predictions for their free agency period that I see happening.

5 predictions for the Saints' free agency

Saints add notable wide receiver in free agency

I believe that wide receiver will be a notable piece to the puzzle that Kellen Moore will try to add this week. The names are not going to jump off the page, but New Orleans needs another veteran presence for their offense next season.

Derek Carr has found the most success in his career when effectively pushing the ball downfield, so signing a bigger-body wideout should be in the cards for the Saints. Not to mention, the 2025 NFL Draft could help them add depth at pass catcher as well.

New Orleans moves on from Taysom Hill

With their salary cap restrictions, New Orleans can realistically move on from the long-time utility weapon for their team. Taysom has played a notable role on offense and special teams over the past handful of seasons.

If he hits free agency, I would expect Hill to receive interest from Sean Payton's Denver Broncos. Keep in mind that Hill is coming off of a torn ACL, too.

Tyrann Mathieu takes pay cut to help out salary cap

There have been murmurs about the Honey Badger's contract in recent days. It will not surprise me if he takes a pay cut to increase the freedom for New Orleans' front office to make more free agency moves.

Seems unlikely that Mathieu plays outside of New Orleans next season. Keep an eye on a potential redoing of his deal this week with the Saints.

Saints re-sign Chase Young to extension

This one may surprise some folks. Young enjoyed playing in New Orleans last season and was fairly effective, all things considered. His pressure numbers were amongst the top pass rushers in the NFC, and some other additions to the DL this offseason could help him really show out next season for the Saints.

I won't be surprised if New Orleans locks him into a multi-year deal this week, but he will have a market, undoubtedly.

CB Paulson Adebo signs elsewhere

Ultimately, Adebo's price may simply be more than New Orleans will be willing to spend on a cornerback this offseason. Coming off a major leg injury, they look elsewhere for secondary help, with Adebo being one of the top options on the market.

With four picks in the first three rounds of the draft, I think the CB spot is one where they may address it more aggressively there, than in FA. A rookie will probably have to come in and make an impact in year one on the back end for Brandon Staley's unit.
