New Orleans Saints' interest in QB Cam Ward reaches new high with latest updates from his Pro Day for Miami

The New Orleans Saints' future at quarterback is particularly murky. Derek Carr seems to be the most likely option as the starting QB next season, due to his current contract situation.

That being said, New Orleans could add another long-term option to the mix in this year's NFL Draft. Miami's Cam Ward is usually ranked as the top QB prospect in the 2025 draft class. Do the Saints have interest in the former Canes QB?

Saints' interest in Cam Ward

There is clear interest between projected top five overall pick Cam Ward and the Saints as of now. Although, Ward is widely expected/predicted to be the first overall selection. The Tennessee Titans currently hold the first overall selection.

The former Hurricanes quarterback considers it a dream to have a chance to play for the Saints. Clearly, he would love to be picked by New Orleans, and they share that sort of intrigue.

"It was a great meeting especially if you get a chance to go play with a Super Bowl coach like coach Moore...The Saints they were one of my favorite teams growing up when I was little."

"It would be a dream of mine to play for them."

-- Ward on potentially playing for New Orleans

According to reports, the Saints had a strong contingency in attendance for Ward's Pro Day performance at Miami, including general manager Mickey Loomis.

There is no doubting the intrigue in the young QB via the Saints. It points to a lack of belief in Derek Carr as the long-term answer at quarterback. Considering his age and injury history, that's a smart notion to have entering next season.

That being said, getting Ward will be a nearly impossible task.

The Titans are predicted to have strong interest in him as well. There's a growing belief that they'll take Ward first overall, according to Ari Meirov.

New Orleans' only chance to secure him is to most likely massively overpay in a trade up to get the top overall selection. They'd have to move up from ninth overall, with Tennessee being willing to move off their potential long-term answer at quarterback.

No matter what - there is no longer any doubt that the Saints are fans of Ward's game and would love to draft him if actually given a realistic opportunity to do so. I just don't see that happening, though.
