The New Orleans Saints have plenty of needs left to fill on the roster if they are looking to compete in the coming years, and one such spot is at defensive end. The unit has some promising talent, no doubt, but it does not have a game-wrecker to build around. They had one such player on the team previously with Trey Hendrickson, and he showed that he could be the focal point of a defense before the team chose to let him walk away in free agency.
After four seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, it seems he may be on the way out unless something drastically changes. While the Saints are likely not the front-runner for his services, they could hypothetically afford Hendrickson, and his fit alongside the current unit would be outstanding. Franchise legend Cameron Jordan agrees, claiming Hendrickson is "tailor made to thrive" in the Saints' defense when talking with fans on social media.

This is a bold claim, especially coming from someone who has seen as much as Jordan has in his career. But Hendrickson has found success with the Saints before, as in his fourth season with the team, he produced 13.5 sacks and 12 tackles for loss. The only player with more sacks over the last three years is Myles Garrett, with 44 to Hendrickson's 43. Now with a new coaching staff in place, they could look to build around some new pieces and put together a really strong defensive identity. Is it a likely option? Maybe not. But it would be an extremely fun one.
