Round 1 – Pick 7 – Armand Membou, Offensive Tackle, Missouri
The New York Jets make the smart move in the first round, selecting an offensive lineman to sure up the trenches. Justin Fields is going to get a chance to prove himself as a franchise quarterback, and protecting him is going to be a major priority.
A lot of scouts and analysts believe that Membou may actually be better suited to offensive guard. At 6′ 3″ he’s considered undersized for a tackle, despite spending two seasons as the Missouri Tigers starter at right tackle.
One of the best things about Membou’s game, outside of the powerful approach he takes to every rep, is his versatility. Membou has experience playing on both sides of the line and should have no issue kicking inside to guard if called upon.
