The New York Jets have a decision to make with tight end Tyler Conklin. Will he be back under the new front office in 2025?
According to SportsNet New York, Conklin might be on the way out. Should head coach Aaron Glenn and general manager Darren Mougey reconsider that?
FOX Sports makes the case.
The outlet named the 29-year-old tight end as the No. 66 best pending free agent in the NFL this offseason. The league's market opens next week on March 10.
Last season, Conklin had 51 catches for 449 yards with four touchdowns in 16 games played.
Conklin was not overly part of the Jets' game plan on offense with wideouts Davante Adams and Garrett Wilson in the fold... but if New York does add a young quarterback at the 2025 NFL draft, a proven tight end such as Conklin could be useful.
FOX Sports' full free agency breakdown on Conklin can be found below:
There are slim pickings for tight ends this offseason, but maybe Conklin is a diamond in the rough. In each of the past four seasons, he has 51 catches or more for 449 yards or more. Aaron Rodgers and Zach Wilson (and worse options) have been Conklin's QBs for the last few years. He's a good run blocker and reliable pass-catcher, and he's 29 years old. He's a safe free agency target who might even earn an every-down role for a TE-needy team.
