The New York Rangers could be ready to raise prices ahead of 2024/25, but if they don't make the Stanley Cup Playoffs, they've promised no increase.
This season has been a wild ride for the New York Rangers thus far, and with some of their top players still showing frustration, if they don't make the Stanley Cup Playoffs, there could be serious ramifications in the off-season.
Now, they've upped the pressure on their team, as Larry Brooks of the New York Post has revealed the details of a message that the organization have sent to their season ticket holders.
Reportedly, the organization has informed fans of a slight increase to prices for the 2025/26 season, but have told them that if they fail to qualify for the Stanley Cup Playoffs this season, then that increase will not officially be put in place.
Unsurprisingly, this drew overwhelming criticism from the fans on social media, who believe that games taking place at Madison Square Garden are already overpriced as it is, and with some of the most expensive tickets in the league, that's evidently true.
On the other hand, many are trolling the Rangers for their lack of success this season, and given that they came into 2024/25 as Stanley Cup hopefuls in a loaded Eastern Conference, they've definitely underperformed to those expectations.
Unfortunately for fans of the NHL, it appears as though rising ticket costs are inevitable with the rising salary cap, and given how much the league relies on ticket prices for revenue, this will only continue as the years go on, and with this latest message, it's safe to say that Rangers fans are mixed in their reaction to the news.
