Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen will step on the field for a bout against the Kansas City Chiefs in fewer than 24 hours.
The two best teams in the AFC will square off from Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park on Sunday afternoon in one of the most anticipated games of the season. Allen knows he's up against a massive challenge posed by Chiefs defensive lineman Chris Jones.
"He's a game wrecker, one of the best, if not the best, interior D lineman in the game right now," Allen said. "You pair that up with some of their DBs and linebackers, they're flying all over the field… We're gonna have our hands full. It's a very good unit that we're about to face, and we're just trying to try and have a good week of practice and go up there next week on Sunday."
While his sights are set on Jones this weekend, it was a different defensive lineman that had his attention last weekend. During a 30-20 win over the Indianapolis Colts last weekend, defensive lineman Dayo Odeyingbo made headlines when he tried to punch the ball loose from Allen.
Instead of making contact with the ball, though, the former second-round pick out of Vanderbilt made contact with Allen's head. The defensive end repeatedly punched Allen in the torso and head until the play was over.
Interestingly enough, Odeyingbo was not penalized for the play during the game. However, the NFL reviewed the tape and saw fit to hit the Colts defensive lineman with a hefty fine of $10,919, according to Bills beat writer Ryan Talbot.
It's not the first, and won't be the last, time a player tries to punch the ball loose. However, Odeyingbo might want to attend a boxing class or two to hone his skills and become a bit more accurate to both find the football and avoid a punch to his wallet.
