NFL insiders continue stirring the pot surrounding New Orleans Saints' interest in the rookie QB class for 2025 NFL Draft

Shedeur Sanders. Jaxson Dart. Those are two names that have been highlighted recently for the New Orleans Saints. Of course, those are two QB prospects that are widely expected to go early in the 2025 NFL Draft.

What is the latest on the Saints' work on this year's quarterback class? Could they select a rookie?

Latest on Saints' interest in rookie QBs

There's legitimate buzz around the Saints going after a rookie quarterback sometime early in this year's draft. That's crystal clear, and multiple NFL insiders have echoed that sentiment over the past week.

Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo

Both Rapoport and Garafolo have discussed the Saints as a landing spot for Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart.

The Saints had dinner with him last week and have had a close eye on him during workouts. Kellen Moore has had plenty of conversations with the young QB, whose stock can't seem to stop rising lately.

Taking a quarterback in the top ten or trading back into round one from pick 40 and landing one are both options for New Orleans, too. Sanders and Dart are both predicted to be first-round selections via a lot of draft analysts.

Adam Schefter

Schefter doubled down on the concept of the Saints taking Sanders in round one as well. The Cleveland Browns and New York Giants may pass on taking a QB in round one, opting to select one on day two or three of the draft.

Field Yates, Jordan Reid, and Matt Miller

All three analysts gave some insight into the possibility that Dart gets taken in round one. They all gave that scenario a likelihood of 75% or higher in a recent article from ESPN.

Reid: 75%. Dart's stock has continued to rise since the Senior Bowl. He's the third-best QB on my board, and with Miami's Cam Ward and Colorado's Shedeur Sanders likely going in the first six picks, there will be plenty of Day 1 landing spots for Dart. I've heard he's actually the second-best QB on some teams' boards...

Yates: 90%. My mindset remains that two of the first three picks are likely to be quarterbacks, with the Titans zeroed in on Ward and the Giants still needing a youngsignal-caller -- most likely Sanders. Dart could start right away with a team such as the Steelers (No. 21), and the Saints (No. 9) or Rams (No. 26) might view him as an eventual starter...

Miller: 95%. I'm with Jordan and Field. I think it's really likely Dart goes in Round 1. In my talks with scouts this past week, the expectation is that his predraft process has been too successful for him to get past the first 32 picks...

No matter what - no one can deny the homework that New Orleans is doing on this quarterback class. Taking one in the first round is a legitimate possibility, whether fans believe that is smart or not.
