The Atlanta Falcons addressed the prank call made to Shedeur Sanders during the 2025 NFL Draft.
As the quarterback continued to slide during the draft's second day, he received a call from someone posing as New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis. After a video surfaced of two college-aged men making the call, people on social media identified one as Jax Ulbrich, the son of Falcons defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich.
On Sunday afternoon, the Falcons confirmed that Jax obtained Sanders' number -- for a phone provided to him by the league before the draft -- from Jeff's iPad. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Falcons won't discipline Jeff Ulbrich.
"The Atlanta Falcons do not condone this behavior and send our sincere apologies to Shedeur Sanders and his family, who we have been in contact with to apologize to, as well as facilitate an apology directly from Jax to the Sanders family," the Falcons said in a statement.
The Falcons also said they will "cooperate fully" with the NFL and are "thoroughly reviewing all protocols."
Jax confirmed that he spoke to Sanders when issuing a public apology on Instagram.
"On Friday night I made a tremendous mistake," he wrote. "Sheduer [sic], what I did was completely inexcusable, embarrassing, and shameful. I'm so sorry I took away from your moment. It was selfish and childish."
Jax watched as the caller, wearing an Ole Miss sweater, told Sanders the Saints planned on picking him. After Sanders rejoiced over the "legendary" news, the caller told the 23-year-old he'd have to wait longer before hanging up.
Well Off Media, the company run by Deion Sanders Jr., showed the footage of Shedeur fielding the call. He later noted that only NFL teams were supposed to have that phone number to avoid this precise scenario.
The Falcons said Jeff Ulbrich was "unaware of the data exposure" and prank until after the fact. He joined Atlanta in January after ending his four-year tenure with the New York Jets as their interim head coach.
