Former Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb might not have to wait much longer to find a new team.
In an appearance on “SportsCenter” Sunday, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that there is mutual interest between Chubb and the Houston Texans, and the two sides may be able to conclude a deal soon.
“I was told that he’s hoping to sign here soon, and maybe he gets something done before minicamp,” Fowler said. “I’m told Houston could be one to watch here.”
Chubb is a free agent, and while the Browns have not completely ruled out bringing him back, it does seem very unlikely . With the Texans, he would likely serve as a complementary piece alongside veteran Joe Mixon.
Chubb was able to return to the field last season after overcoming a serious knee injury. He rushed 102 times for 332 yards and 3 touchdowns before suffering a broken foot.
Durability is a major concern for Chubb at this point. A part-time role is probably best for both him and whatever team he lands with, as he would be able to manage his workload and hopefully maximize his effectiveness.
