Nick Sirianni Sends Clear Message to Kellen Moore About Taking Eagles Coaches

The Eagles head coach will hope to not lose a ton of coaches with Kellen Moore taking the New Orleans Saints' head coaching job.

The Philadelphia Eagles' win in Super Bowl 59 over the Kansas City Chiefs has opened the door for Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore to take the New Orleans Saints' head coaching job.

On Tuesday, the Saints officially announced that the former Eagles coordinator will be their new head coach for the 2025 season. Moore has been linked to the Saints’ head coaching gig over the last few weeks and it was just a matter of when he would accept the job.

With Moore on his way out of Philadelphia, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni and the front office must find a new offensive coordinator and make sure he can retain some of the guys on his coaching staff.

Sirianni was asked about an assistant coach like Moore taking staff members with him. The Super Bowl-winning head coach understands the process of some guys leaving, but ultimately, it’s still his and the Eagles’ staff.

"I don't let that happen, usually. But sometimes you can't help it. Just like Frank said to me, 'this is my staff, and you can't have these guys,' Sirianni said (h/t Zach Berman of PHLY). It's hard to build the staff and have that continuity in there, but there's sometimes you can't — like the Nick Rallis situation, he had the opportunity to go and be promoted, and that's the way the rules are now. Every situation is a little different. But my general thought on that is, this is my and the Philadelphia Eagles' staff."

Eagles QB coach Doug Nussmeier is one of the potential candidates from Sirianni’s staff to join Moore in New Orleans. Nussmeier has worked with Moore in Los Angeles (Chargers) and Dallas.

If he took the OC job with the Saints, it would be a promotion for Nussmeier. Not to mention, he has a son who is a starting quarterback at LSU.

Sirianni will be going through a similar situation as Lions head coach Dan Campbell, who had both coordinators leave for head coaching gigs and took some of his staff with them. However, Campbell kept some guys around in the Motor City.

Nevertheless, since this is Sirianni’s second time losing one of his coordinators to a head coaching job, he should have a better grasp and chance of keeping some of his coaches.
