Natalie Joy defended her right to travel with her baby during a recent flight. Nick Viall’s wife recalled the experience during the May 28 episode of The Viall Files podcast. A fellow passenger in business class griped about the mere existence of the 15-month-old on the flight.
There are enough social media discussions about babies on flights. They vary in degree of extremes. Some think babies should be banned from business class. Others call for entire child-free flights. The Bachelor star stays off social media as it is. But for the passenger traveling with Natalie, she is clear on where the mother-of-one stands on the matter after the confrontation.
Nick Viall’s wife Natalie Joy read a plane passenger’s texts about her child
Nick and Natalie were traveling with their daughter, River Rose. The model caught the woman in front of her complaining about the child via text message.
“We’ve not left the gate, and I clocked the woman in front of me. Y’all know I love an eavesdrop phone read on an airplane,” she said on a recent episode of her husband’s podcast.
Natalie continued, “So the woman in front of me, who I thought honestly like was going to be quite nice because we made eye contact as we were boarding.”
River was on her best behavior at the time. Natalie described her as “talkative,” but not disruptive or crying. Despite the facts, the woman continued to text complaints about being seated near an “18-month-old in business class.”
The model continued, “So I read on her phone, the first thing I see is, ’18-month-old in business class.’ And I’m like, ‘Oh, here we go.’”
The offended passenger went into multiple group chats to continue ranting. Natalie explained, “She starts typing to her friends, … ‘There’s some young couple behind me in business class with their around-year-old kid screaming up a storm. The kind of people who think it’s cute. They need to learn how to quiet their kid down.’”
Natalie pointed out a grammatical mistake
It was then that Natalie noticed the incorrect spelling of “their” as “there.” And she used that opportunity to confront her fellow passenger.
“As she’s finishing her text, I lean up and tap her on the shoulder, and I said, ‘It’s t-h-e-i-r,’” the model revealed.
Undeterred, the woman huffed off the comment and continued her hyperbole. Except that she started complaining about Natalie as well. However, the mother-of-one was “impressed” by what the passenger did next.
“She brings out her phone, same level, same brightness, same text size, and starts going, ‘She just confronted me about a spelling error. She’s reading my text from behind me. LOL. I respect it,’” The Bachelor alum’s wife commended.
As for Nick, he was unaware of what was going on and was only briefed on the matter later. He and Natalie welcomed River Rose in February 2024 and were wed two months later
