Recently, Golden Knights insider Gary Lawless reported that Vegas defenseman Noah Hanifin is on the watchlist for Team USA for this winter’s Four Nations Face-Off.
Hanifin, a 27 year-old defenseman, is currently in his first full season with the Golden Knights. He spent the first three years of his career with the Carolina Hurricanes, before playing the last six with the Calgary Flames.
Calgary traded Hanifin to Vegas last March in exchange for Daniil Miromanov and several draft picks. In April, he signed an eight-year $58.8 million contract extension with the Golden Knights.
Through 16 games this year, Hanifin has three goals and five assists.
Each participating country for the tournament has already had six players confirmed for its tournament roster. Included in the Team USA group is Golden Knights center Jack Eichel.
Now, Hanifin will hope to join his Vegas teammate in trading in Vegas gold for red, white, and blue. Hanifin was born and raised in the Boston area, playing high school hockey at St. Sebastian’s School. He matriculated at Boston College at 17 years old. playing one year of college hockey for the Eagles prior to being drafted.
The Four Nations Face-Off will feature the United States, Canada, Finland, and Sweeden. It will take place in Boston and Montreal in February.
