The latest casting announcement for the upcoming ABC series 9-1-1: Nashville is hitting a bit too close to home for one country music star. Real-life Nashville resident, philanthropist, and country music singer Brad Paisley shared his reaction to his wife, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, being cast alongside country music star LeAnn Rimes in the upcoming 9-1-1 spin-off. He shared the reaction to his Instagram stories, saying "Oh great. Now when I call 911 here it’ll be 'oh grow up, you’re fine.'" The reaction was made more hilarious by his wife sharing the message to her own stories, saying "Truth."
The spin-off was announced earlier this year. It's slated to be a part of the Fall 2025 ABC network lineup alongside the flagship 9-1-1. It will be the only 9-1-1 spin-off on the air after the conclusion of 9-1-1: Lone Star over on Fox after five seasons. The series will be set, you guessed it, in Nashville, Tennessee.
Who Is Kimberly Williams-Paisley Joining on the Set of '9-1-1: Nashville'?
Williams-Paisley was a part of the joint announcement with LeAnn Rimes, but there have already been a couple of casting announcements made for the series. The first up was NCIS: Los Angeles' Chris O'Donnell. O'Donnell has been cast as the lead, Captain Don Sharpe, a fire captain in charge of Nashville's busiest firehouse as well as a rodeo rider. We know that O'Donnell's character is also a father and a husband, with Grey's Anatomy's Jessica Capshaw set to play Captain Sharpe's wife. So far: O'Donnell, Capshaw, Rimes, and Williams-Paisley are the only four officially announced cast members.
Another 9-1-1 universe star, Angela Bassett, is also attached as an executive producer. Bassett, who plays Athena Grant-Nash on the flagship 9-1-1, also already serves as an executive producer on the original show. There is no word if her attachment could also mean popping over to the new spin-off (though this author very much needs to see Athena shutting down utter tomfoolery on Broadway), but an established character helping to launch the new series is a pretty common spin-off practice if there's no backdoor pilot.
9-1-1: Nashville will air this fall on ABC. Stay with Collider for the latest updates.
