Oliver Bonk apparently loves being a Flyers prospect

Some young people just fall in love with this city and never leave and one of them is apparently Oliver Bonk. The Flyers defenseman prospect cannot stop talking about his time in Philadelphia and his experience so far with this team, according to his teammates.

In a recent video over on the YouTube channel of what comes to mind when you think of Over-The-Top Hockey Content Creators, BarDown, some of Bonk’s teammates on Team Canada’s World Juniors squad, and his London Knights team, called him out. In a prompt for which Canadian teammate talks about the NHL the most, the 19-year-old blueliner was brought up immediately.

First, it was by Knights (and Team Canada) teammate Sam Dickinson. The San Jose Sharks prospect appeared to know almost immediately who to pick for the prompt, so much so that apparently on the Knights’ bus after the game, if there is some NHL action happening and the Flyers are on, the whole team pokes and prods to know more about the big-time NHLers. Might be half in jest and half actual curiosity.

And outside of the anecdote, Dickinson reveals that Bonk apparently loves talking about his time in Philadelphia. The young blueliner spent a good amount of time in the city between the rookie showcase and the Flyers training camp, and it seems like he loved it so much that he won’t stop talking about it and living the life of a temporary big leaguer.

Carson Bjarnason obviously has a different approach. The fellow Flyers prospect and Team Canada teammate exposes that Bonk, again, just loves talking about his time wearing the Orange and Black; and, the fact that Bonk is good friends with a whole lot of the team, before he has even played a game of professional hockey.

Thanks to this, we are now imagining that Bonk just goes around and at every chance he gets, he talks about the city of Philadelphia or the Flyers. Shoehorning any fact that he learned over the summer with the Flyers into every conversation. And now, we can’t wait for him to get another shot at cracking this roster next fall and then possibly really getting deep into the organization with the Phantoms if he doesn’t.

September can’t come soon enough for Bonk.
