Panthers’ David Tepper reacts to $650 million Bank of America Stadium decision

The Carolina Panthers have played at Bank of America Stadium since they joined the NFL. The stadium sits in the heart of Charlotte, North Carolina and is one of the oldest in the league. It appears that the Panthers will continue to play there for a long time.

Why The Small-Market Carolina Panthers Sold To David Tepper For A Record $2.3 Billion

Yesterday the City of Charlotte voted 7-3 to approve several upgrades to Bank of America Stadium. The City Council approved terms of the proposed $650 million investment that includes a 20-year non-relocation rule for the Carolina Panthers and Charlotte FC.

Panthers owner David Tepper took to social media to issue a response to the good news.

“Today’s vote by the Charlotte City Council is the culmination of many thoughtful discussions with city officials, local leaders, and our fans to create a shared vision for Bank of America Stadium,” Tepper wrote, per Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer. “Nicole and I are grateful for the collaboration and support of the project, as well as our ongoing partnership between Tepper Sports & Entertainment and the city.”

Tepper is excited that the Panthers will continue to play in Charlotte moving forward.

“For nearly 30 years, Charlotte has been the home of the Carolina Panthers and, most recently, Charlotte FC,” Tepper continued. “We are proud to be in the Carolinas and look forward to delivering a venue that meets the needs of our community, players, and fans for years to come.”

Bank of America Stadium opened in 1996 and is one of the oldest stadiums in the NFL. It has undergone several renovations since its first opened and will now receive another major facelift.

This news is a much-needed bright spot for the Panthers. It comes on the heels of last year’s failed Panthers practice facility in Rock Hill.

Things are moving in the right direction for the Panthers.

Panthers have increased expectations in year two with QB Bryce Young

The expectations for the 2024 Carolina Panthers will be much higher than last year. QB Bryce Young was dropped into a tough situation as a rookie. His support cast was not great, which made it tough to evaluate his rookie season.

Thankfully, it sounds like he’s progressing well this offseason.

Veteran wide receiver Adam Thielen gave Young a stellar review earlier this summer. He is pleased to see Young gain more confidence during his second offseason in Carolina.

“It’s been awesome. Not only him, just a lot of the young guys, a lot of the staff. It’s just been a great offseason to just see some of these guys who haven’t been in the league very long — just the way that they’ve come in with confidence,” Thielen said on the Rich Eisen Show. “You can tell, Bryce’s demeanor in the building — he’s just more comfortable, right? And you don’t realize it when you start getting to be a veteran guy, just because you forget about those times.”

Young is reportedly excited for the season and maintaining his normal level of poise. It has served him well throughout his football career.

“It’s helped me through my whole life,” Young said, per ESPN’s David Newton. “The good, the bad, indifferent; making sure that myself, internally, I’m OK. Luckily, I’ve been very conscious of that my whole life, so I’ve had a lot of practice compartmentalizing things and trying to have healthy habits.”

We can’t wait to watch the Panthers later this fall.
