The Carolina Panthers have once again been graded by their players in the NFLPA’s annual report cards, revealing mixed results. While head coach Dave Canales earned top marks from his players, other areas, particularly ownership and team travel, have raised concerns.
Canales’ Leadership Shines
Panthers players gave head coach Dave Canales an impressive A- grade. His ability to maximize their time on the field and his receptiveness to feedback from the locker room stood out. “He’s always open to hearing what we need,” said one player, reinforcing Canales’ commitment to fostering a collaborative environment. With 97% of players feeling their time is used effectively, Canales has earned their respect as a leader who’s hands-on and in tune with the team’s needs.
Ownership’s Struggles
Unfortunately, the same can’t be said for owner David Tepper, whose D- grade in ownership highlights a growing dissatisfaction among players. Tepper’s perceived lack of commitment to investing in team facilities or creating a winning culture has become a point of contention. The players ranked Tepper near the bottom of the league in both culture-building and financial investment, placing him at 31st out of 32 owners.

Travel and Weight Room Woes
Despite some strengths, the Panthers received low marks in areas such as team travel and weight room facilities. Players ranked team travel a dismal D, with cramped seating and inefficient schedules leading to frustration. Meanwhile, the weight room ranked 27th, with players citing insufficient space and outdated equipment as major issues.
