Showtime will be staying in Hockeytown as the Detroit Red Wings have inked a new one-year extension with veteran winger Patrick Kane.

The reported deal with worth $3 million with some added incentives that should fuel another showstopping season. Kane’s deal includes up to $4 million in bonuses, with $2.5 million for playing 10 games, $250K each for hitting 30 and 50 games, $500K for making the playoffs, and $250K for each of the first two playoff rounds won.

The 36-year-old Buffalo native has proven to be a valuable asset in old age with a near point-per-game season when first joining the Wings during the 2023-24 season.

His 47 points through 50 games was impressive and he followed it up with a second straight 20-goal season with Detroit and put up another 59 points through 72 games.

The three-time Stanley Cup champion has been noted to add value insight and leadership to a young Red Wings team that could use more leaders besides captain Dylan Larkin.

Detroit now has $17.2 million in cap space entering the start of free agency tomorrow and will be able to still try and wrangle in a big fish like Brock Boeser or Vladimir Gavrikov.
