Patrik Laine Reveals the Gruesome Injury He Suffered in The Playoffs Against Washington

The Montreal Canadiens exceeded any expectations that were placed upon them in the 2024/25 season, and while they fell in five games to the Washington Capitals, there are plenty of positives to take out from the year.

Unfortunately, it was also a year of what ifs for this team, with the biggest being the health of Patrik Laine, who began the season sidelined after a brutal collision in the pre-season.

He would ultimately get healthy, but then in Game 2 of the series on the road in Washington, he has revealed that he suffered a broken finger that resulted in him being a scratch throughout the series.

This explains the scratches that many believed could be due to an issue with Laine, and while he tried his best to fight through the finger injury, ultimately, it was apparently just too uncomfortable for him to play through in the end.

In that same interview, Laine revealed that he rediscovered the joy of playing hockey this season with Montreal, and with just one year remaining on his current deal, it's clear that he would love to be back with the Canadiens moving forward.

Ultimately though, it was a disappointing end to an up-and-down campaign for Laine, who went through injuries and periods of inconsistency, but overall, the fans in Montreal fell in love with the talented goal scorer and hopefully next season, he can be healthy as this team look to push for a much deeper run in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
