Penguins beat Bears, Nailers' winning streak reaches 8

   

Defenseman Filip Kral had two goals and two assists for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in a 5-4 win against the rival Hershey Bears at Mohegan Sun Arena in Hershey on Saturday.

Forward Rutger McGroarty scored the winning goal at 18:45 of the third period and recorded an assist for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (11-4-1-0) while forward Emil Bemstrom also contributed a goal and an assist.

Goaltender Sergei Murashov made 30 saves on 34 shots to boost his record to 2-0-0.

The Penguins’ next game is a home contest against the Bears on Wednesday, 7:05 p.m.

Two goals and two assists by forward Kyle Jackson helped lead the Wheeling Nailers to their eighth consecutive win, a 7-1 rout of the Cincinnati Cyclones at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, W.Va..

Forwards Atley Calvert and Matty De St. Phalle each had a goal and an assist for Wheeling (12-3-1-0) while forwards Jack Beck and Gabe Classen each contributed two assists.

In his season debut, goaltender Taylor Gauthier made 31 saves on 32 shots in the victory.

The Nailers’ next game is a home contest against the Kalamazoo Wings on Friday, 7:10 p.m.
