In March, the Pittsburgh Penguins acquired Tommy Novak from the Nashville Predators in a multi-player trade. This was after Novak recorded 13 goals, nine assists, 22 points, and a minus-5 rating in 52 games with the Predators before the trade.
The Penguins did not get to see much of Novak after the trade, as he played in only two games for them. This is because his season came to an end a few days after the trade due to a lower-body injury. During his two appearances with the Penguins, Novak recorded zero points, five blocks, and a minus-2 rating.
While this past season was tough for Novak, the possibility of him becoming a nice part of the Penguins' roster next season should not be ruled out. Before this past season, he demonstrated that he has the potential to be a solid offensive contributor when playing at his best, and he could very well be the same for the Penguins in 2025-26.
Just back during the 2023-24 season with the Predators, Novak set career highs with 18 goals, 27 assists, and 45 points in 71 games. This was after he had 17 goals and 43 points in just 51 contests during his breakout season with the Predators in 2022-23. With numbers like these, Novak has shown that he can make an impact offensively.
Now, Novak will be looking to get back to this top form with the Penguins in 2025-26.
