With Marcus Pettersson sidelined on a week-to-week basis because of an undisclosed injury, the Pittsburgh Penguins added reinforcements to their blue line Tuesday morning, recalling Nathan Clurman from Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League.
If and when he does suit up, Clurman would be in line to make his NHL debut.
A 26-year-old right-handed shot, Clurman has appeared in 16 games for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton this season, contributing a goal and four assists.
A sixth-round draft pick (No. 161 overall) by the Colorado Avalanche in 2016, Clurman is a veteran of 126 AHL games, primarily over parts of four seasons with the Colorado Eagles.
His most extensive campaign with the Eagles was 2022-23, when he appeared in 57 games for Colorado’s AHL affiliate, scoring three goals with 15 assists.
Clurman played collegiately at Notre Dame and is a native of Boulder, Colo.
The 6-foot-2, 193-pound defenseman was signed through 2024-25 this past July at a salary cap hit of $775,000, per PuckPedia.
