The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins’ season came to an end with a 3-2 loss to the rival Lehigh Valley Phantoms in Game 2 of an Atlantic Division first-round playoff series at the PPL Center in Allentown on Friday.
Lehigh Valley swept the best-of-three series.
Forward Tristan Broz had a goal and an assist for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton while linemate Ville Koivunen recorded two assists.
Goaltender Sergei Murashov, who was recalled from Wheeling of the ECHL on Thursday, made 28 saves on 31 shots in the loss.
The Phantoms will face either the Charlotte Checkers or Hershey Bears in the semifinal round.
The Wheeling Nailers held off elimination from the postseason with a 4-1 win against the Norfolk Admirals in Game 4 of a North Division semifinal series at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling.
Norfolk leads the best-of-seven series, 3-1.
Forward Matty De St. Phalle scored two goals for Wheeling while forwards Eli Lieffers and Cole Tymkin each contributed goals.
Goaltender Jaxon Castor made 29 saves on 30 shots in the victory.
