Penguins Sign Tough Guy To Contract Extension

The Pittsburgh Penguins are staying busy, as they have signed forward Boko Imama to a one-year, $775,000 contract extension.

Imama just completed his first season with the Penguins organization in 2024-25 after signing with them this past summer. The 28-year-old forward played in 16 games this campaign for Pittsburgh, posting one goal, 30 penalty minutes, 45 hits, and a plus-2 rating. He also had three goals, five points, 47 penalty minutes, and a minus-1 rating in 24 games with their AHL affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

Imama was also selected as the Penguins' nominee for the Bill Masterton Trophy this season, which is awarded to the player who "best exemplifies the qualities of perserverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey."

With this move, Imama will continue to be a nice part of the Penguins' forward depth as they look to turn things back around in 2025-26. He will certainly give them more toughness when used in the lineup, which is never a bad thing.

In 31 career NHL games over four seasons split between the Arizona Coyotes, Ottawa Senators, and Penguins, Imama has posted two goals, 47 penalty minutes, 90 hits, and a minus-1 rating. It will be intriguing to see how he improves upon these career stats with the Penguins after earning this new extension from here.
