The Penguins continue to tank their season away as they walked into the Shark Tank looking at a very winnable game ahead of them. But they did the opposite and walked away with a 2-1 loss as they continue to be at the bottom of the standings.

The Penguins got goalied yet again by Yaroslav Askarov and only putting up one goal did not help either.
First Period
The first period of this game saw 3 penalties, 19 total shots on goal, and zero of those shots went to the back of the net. This first period was a snooze fest.
The penalties were 2 against the Sharks (1 from Liljegren at :59 and 1 from Walman at 19:48) and 1 against the Penguins (1 from Hayes at 12:56).
The Penguins and Sharks moved on to the second period after a boring opening period.
Second Period
The second period finally saw some scoring as former Penguins Mikael Granlund got the Sharks on the board for the only goal of the period.
Ryan Shea made a terrible pass in his own zone to Sharks forward Will Smith who found Granlund wide open on the left side of the net and he beat Nedeljkovic.
The Sharks took a 1-0 lead into the third period at home.
Third Period
The third period is really where the action picked up where it saw 3 goals, 2 being disallowed, and a shorthanded penalty shot that was stopped.
The Penguins finally got on the board at :24 of the third period as Sidney Crosby batted a puck out of mid-air and past Askarov for a 1-1 tie.
Macklin Celebrini had the answer at 3:41 off of a Marcus Pettersson turnover and it was 2-1 Sharks.
Fast forward to around 9:50 remaining in the game, Drew O'Connor goes in on a breakaway shorthanded but gets impeded by Timothy Liljegren and had a chance to tie the game as he was awarded a penalty shot.
But he was denied unfortunately. Fast forward to about 5 minutes left in the game, Michael Bunting had the puck and sent it towards the net and in off a crazy bounce and tied the game at 2.
But Anthony Beauvillier was in the crease so the Sharks challenged for goaltender interference and the goal was taken off the board.
The Penguins had a 6-on-4 late at the end of the game but came up empty and that was all she wrote on this loss from San Jose.
