A Pittsburgh Penguins' blueliner has reached a new career high.
And the crazy part is that there are still 30 games to go on the season.
Penguins' defenseman Matt Grzelcyk - signed to a one-year, $2.75 million contract this past summer - reached a new career-high of 27 points with his assist on a Marcus Pettersson goal during the second period of a tilt against the Utah Hockey Club.
The assist also gave him 17 road assists on the season, which leads all Penguins players.
Grzelcyk, 31, figures to be a deadline commodity for contending teams in need of offense and power play help from their blue line. His offensive numbers - that he will likely blow out of the water with the amount of games remaining - as well as his low cap hit should make for an attractive, cheaper alternative for teams not wanting to pay a premium at the deadline.
His previous career-high of 26 came with the Boston Bruins in 2022-23.
