Matt Rempe's improvements were noted by Peter Laviolette as he's been impressed with what the 22-year-old has been able to do recently.
There’s been a clear improvement in Matt Rempe’s game recently as he’s earned himself a spot in the New York Rangers’ lineup.
Rempe is playing a physical brand of hockey yet he’s been smart in not taking costly penalties while picking and choosing his hits better.
Peter Laviolette has been happy with what he’s seen from Rempe lately. However, there is one aspect of his game that Laviolette would like to see Rempe build upon.
“I think he’s done a good job,” Laviolette said about Rempe. “I would still like to see with the puck offensively. Just generating, simple mindset, get it on net, good stuff like that. He’s come in and played pretty good defense and chipped in with some good physicality. I’d like to push that offensive boundary just a little bit.”
Since coming back from his eight-game suspension, Rempe has played in each of the past 12 matchups.
There’s a certain confidence that Rempe has displayed over this stretch that we just haven't seen from him, and it’s been fun to watch.
Laviolette is right though, there is an element that the 22-year-old is yet to unlock, but once he does, he could truly emerge as a dangerous player.
