PFF projects New Orleans Saints will win under six games in 2025 NFL season

There is not much hope surrounding the New Orleans Saints in the league this season, but just how many games would they have to win to prove the doubters wrong?

Pro Football Focus analyst Tyler Phillips recently released projected win totals for each team in the NFL for 2025. For the Saints, PFF had them at 5.9 wins. That is slightly above the sportsbook average of 5.5 wins, but essentially the same at somewhere between five and six wins.

The main reason that New Orleans is expected to win fewer than six games is not hard to understand. They won five games last year and have a reworked coaching staff with an extremely young quarterback room. Spencer Rattler, having the most in-game experience with six starts, does not exactly scream confidence. There is always the chance that either he or Tyler Shough explodes onto the scene under the tutelage of Kellen Moore, but that is not the type of thing that experts usually count on. In all likelihood, this is just a rebuilding roster that needs some time before they are ready to go on a run.

One thing working towards the Saints’ favor is that they have one of the easiest schedules in the league. PFF has their strength of schedule at 31st, with the San Francisco 49ers being the only team below them. All of the extreme cold-weather teams that New Orleans plays, like the Buffalo Bills and Chicago Bears, happen before Halloween. It could also help that the second half of the schedule is far easier than the first half, given that the younger players could find a bit of a groove down the stretch.

The NFC South is also once again one of the league’s weaker conferences. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had the highest win total at 9.4, the Atlanta Falcons had 8.0, and the Carolina Panthers had 6.9. The only teams with a lower win total than the Saints were the New York Giants and Cleveland Browns, who were at 5.9. New Orleans plays the Giants at home in Week 5.
