Mauricio Umansky suffered a ski accident over the weekend in Aspen, Colorado, that left him hospitalized and in need of emergency surgery.
In a series of posts shared to his Instagram page, the 54-year-old real estate mogul and estranged husband of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kyle Richards, 56, confirmed the incident with his fans and followers before offering an update on his health post-surgery.
“I feel so blessed to be taken care of by such amazing humans. Ski patrol, [paramedics], Aspen Hospital you’re all the best,” Mauricio wrote in one post, sharing, via Housewives Habit on Instagram, that he had a “broken clavicle.”
Then, in another message from his hospital room, via Bravo Snark Side on Instagram, he said, with a photo of an X-ray machine, “Let’s get this surgery done so I can heal. Play hard sometimes you get hurt but the care here has been incredible.”
Following his surgery, Mauricio returned to social media, where he thanked his online audience for their support and revealed the doctors had inserted not only a metal plate but also 12 screws into his bone.
“Thank you to everyone who has reached out. I have felt so much love and support,” he began on February 16. “I had surgery on my clavicle it was a clean break but required a metal plate and 12 screws. I expect a speedy recovery.”
“The Doctors and Nurses at Aspen Valley Hospital are the best,” he continued.
Mauricio then noted that if he hadn’t been wearing a helmet, his injuries could’ve been far worse.
“I was wearing a helmet and that for sure saved me,” he stated.
After sharing the update, Mauricio was met with kind words from his daughter Alexia Umansky, 28, his step-daughter, Farrah Aldjufrie, 36, Gretchen Rossi, 46, and several others.
