PK Kemsley Says 'I Miss Drinking for Sure' But the 'Benefits' of Sobriety 'Are So Freaking Huge'

The "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" star hit a milestone at 9 months of sobriety amid his separation from wife Dorit Kemsley

Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Paul “PK” Kemsley has hit a milestone at 9 months of sobriety, but as he shared in an Instagram post, he does miss alcohol.

“I’m 9 months Sober today,” PK, 57, began his post. “I made a decision to share my sober journey publicly … why? Firstly to try in my small way to help break the stigma associated with addiction ... You’re pretty lucky if you have never seen drink or drugs change a person you love.”

Amid his struggle with alcohol —  which was documented on the last season of RHOBH, PK and his wife of 9 years, Dorit, announced their separation.

"PK was drinking a lot and he's a drinker. I just think that it's very difficult to have clear-headed conversations when he's drinking so much, so he gave up drinking," Dorit, 48, said on the show.

In the season finale, Dorit said that her “main takeaway” from the past year “is PK and I have a lot of work to do.”

As PK said in his post, “For anyone on the same journey as me, congratulations.”

“For anyone who is considering getting sober, I know it’s tough and the decision is warped with fear … But I read that fear is a mile wide and an inch deep… so it looks like this ocean your gonna step into and drown but as soon as you step into it you find out it’s not that deep at all and you can keep walking through it.”

He candidly admitted that “I miss drinking for sure, still, but 9 months in, the benefits are so freaking huge.”

“You get to witness your life as it’s supposed to be experienced, raw, real and beautiful … you get to sit in the pain and it passes, you get to look and feel better … it’s so strong and empowering I can’t begin to tell you.”

He ended his post with gratitude, writing, “Thanks so much for the overwhelming support I’ve had, for all the DMs it def helps you stay on track, as do posts like this that make me accountable … Love PK.”

His post earned love from current — and former — costars across the Real Housewives universe.

Real Housewives of Orange County star Tamra Judge shared her support, commenting, “Looking amazing. Congratulations 🎉.”

And Gretchen Rossi, an RHOC alum who recently appeared on Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip, shared her approval with applause emojis.

Estranged wife Dorit did not comment — but according to her Instagram, she’s been on a “dream vacation” to Punta Mita, Mexico, with their children, daughter Phoenix, 8, and son Jagger, 10. 

But last month, she did share well wishes for PK's birthday in a post to her Instagram stories, writing, “Lots of love from me and the munchkins."
