The cameras just started rolling for Season 16 of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, and Simon Guobadia is already making things difficult. Amid his contentious divorce from Porsha Williams, he sent a cease and desist letter to the RHOA production team telling them that they couldn’t film in the house.
He told the company that “failure to comply” with his demands would result in him “taking legal action accordingly.”
Now, Porsha is trying to fight back. According to court documents obtained by Radar Online, Porsha has filed an emergency order asking Simon to allow them to film at the house. She says her job depends on it.
Fight for the right to film
The marital house has been a point of contention throughout this entire divorce saga. Porsha claimed that she had exclusive access to the house, per their prenup. That should include filming her day-to-day life for her job on RHOA. However, Simon said that Porsha should go back to her own house if she wants to film.
Allegedly, Porsha’s lawyer has been trying to make a deal with Simon that would allow filming in the house. She promised that she “would not film in areas that are personal to Husband, or areas that may contain information personal to Husband, including his bathroom, closet, office, etc.” Still, Simon said he didn’t want the cameras in the house.
With Simon refusing to let the cameras roll, Porsha has argued that he is now messing with her job. In the emergency order, Porsha’s lawyers said that filming RHOA at the house is “vital to her ability to sustain her income and employment.” They think Simon is intentionally trying to stifle her career.
The letter read, “To prevent Wife from filming her day-to-day activities and lifestyle in the residence to which she has exclusive possession, use, and occupancy is neither reasonable, nor fair to Wife, as it essentially restricts her ability to earn a living, and impedes her ability to provide a realistic view into her life, which is necessary and vital to be a successful reality TV personality.”
For now, Season 16 is underway, but the cameras are still not going inside Porsha’s house. They have to wait until Simon rolls back his threat to pursue legal action. We’re hopeful that Porsha and Simon can come to an arrangement soon. Her peach might depend on it.
