Predicting Vikings Madden NFL 26 Ratings: Defensive Line Edition

NFL: Minnesota Vikings at New York Giants

Let’s get back to it!

Be sure to also check out my Madden NFL 26 predictions for the Vikings offensive line, secondary, and offensive skill positions.

EDGE Jonathan Greenard – 88OVR

Madden NFL 25 End-of-Season Rating: 82OVR

I am hereby demanding that EA Sports do what is just and put some respect on the name of Jonathan Greenard, because that is exactly what he earned in his first year with the Minnesota Vikings in 2024.

Let’s take a look at some of his PFF grades and statistics (with his rank among NFL edge rushers that played at least 460 snaps last season):

  • 80.0 PFF pass rushing grade (9th)
  • 91.0 PFF true-passing set pass rushing grade (2nd)
  • 80 total pressures (3rd)
  • 11 sacks (T-6th)
  • 10 QB hits (T-11th)
  • 59 QB hurries (1st)
  • 15.3% pass rush win rate (7th)

He began the Madden NFL 25 game-cycle as a 76OVR, meaning he gained a +6 to his overall rating over the course of the year. Yes, I’m predicting another +8, because that’s what Greenard deserves.

EDGE Andrew Van Ginkel – 87OVR

Madden NFL 25 End-of-Season Rating: 85OVR

2024 Vikings newcomer Andrew Van Ginkel had an absolutely electrifying first season with the Minnesota Vikings, most notably housing two pick-sixes in the first six weeks of the season and also accumulating 11.5 sacks over the course of the entire season, which was the exact number of sacks he amassed over the three seasons before last combined.

Safe to assume that Van Ginkel will get a little boost from the powers that be at EA Sports.

EDGE Dallas Turner – 74OVR

Madden NFL 25 End-of-Season Rating: 73OVR

EA Sports doesn’t have much reason to raise the 73OVR rating that Turner held to end of Madden NFL 25’s life-cycle, but they also don’t have much reason to lower it. Here, I see them leaning slightly more in the direction of Turner becoming more like the player that the Vikings thought they had when they traded up for him in the 2024 NFL Draft.

That is, if Andrew Van Ginkel and Jonathan Greenard aren’t too good to take off the field this season.

DI’s Jonathan Allen (87OVR), Harrison Phillips (79OVR), Jonathan Hargrave (83OVR)

Madden NFL 25 End-of-Season Ratings: Allen (88OVR), Phillips (77OVR), Hargrave (84OVR)

This should be a pretty scary defensive front for opposing NFL offenses this upcoming season; however, EA Sports isn’t super nice to aging defensive players when it comes to their initial ratings, especially when they’ve got some recent injury history. That’s why I have Allen and Hargrave both dropping a point each, while having Harrison Phillips gaining a +2 boost to his ratings, because 77OVR seems just a touch too low for the big man.

Still, an interior defensive line in Madden with an 88OVR and 84OVR paired with a starting edge duo of an 88OVR and 87OVR should be absolutely nasty.
