Raheem Morris confirms Jalon Walker will play against Lions

In a bit of surprising news, Raheem Morris told the media today that Falcons first-round pick Jalon Walker will play in the first week of the preseason against the Detroit Lions.

The former Georgia Bulldogs star has been working his way back from a minor hamstring injury all of training camp. He just recently put the pads on and started getting some one-on-one work in, so playing on Friday felt like a long shot, especially with how cautious the Falcons typically are during the preseason.

But it looks like fans will get a glimpse of a slew of potential impact players in just a couple of days. The Falcons drafted four defensive players in the first four rounds of this year’s NFL Draft, and all of them are competing for significant snaps leading up to Week 1. They’ll be the stars of the show Friday night against the Lions.
