Raiders Eye Intriguing QB Prospect in 2025 NFL Draft as Perfect Developmental Gamble

Las Vegas Raiders are showing some interest in a quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft that would be the perfect experiment

Even though they just traded for former Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith and gave him a contract extension, the Las Vegas Raiders could still be in the market for a quarterback during the 2025 NFL Draft.

I know, to some, it sounds crazy. To others, it sounds genius. The fan base is pretty much always split down the middle on every decision that the Raiders make, especially when it has anything to do with a quarterback. In this case, there are some that still want the Raiders to spend the No. 6 overall pick on Shedeur Sanders, even though they have a quarterback, a backup quarterback, and have so many other holes on the roster that that pick could be used for.

Then there are some who want the Raiders to take one on Day 3, which is much more realistic, especially when you talk about guys like Ohio State Buckeyes QB Will Howard, who has a connection with Raiders offensive coordinator Chip Kelly, from their time last year when they won a National Championship together. That would be smart, but you still may not want to use that high of a pick on a QB, or better yet, a player who has a very high chance of not seeing the field at all for two years.

However, for what it's worth, it's pretty obvious that the Raiders do have some interest, how big or small the interest is still in question, in one quarterback who could be chosen late in Round 1, or early in Round 2.

Raiders set to visit with Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart

On Tuesday, it was reported that the Raiders have a meeting set up with Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart, who has been graded by most as the third-best quarterback in this draft. And, some have even said he is the second best in this class.

Right now, Dart is expected to go late in the first or early in the second round. He has some of the best pure arm talent in the entire draft, but isn't considered to be the best of all the quarterbacks due to all of the mental errors we saw this season during the worst times.

If you need any further evidence, look at Ole Miss against Kentucky near the end of the game, and Ole Miss vs. Florida. Dart has had some moments that are too hard to turn away from when watching the film. But man, he has made some amazing plays.

The Raiders could very well target him in the 2025 NFL Draft. However, a team like the Pittsburgh Steelers at No. 21, or even the Cleveland Browns could take him to kick off the start of the second round. We just don't know what will happen.
