The Las Vegas Raiders have made a strategic roster move, sending cornerback Jakorian Bennett to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for defensive tackle Thomas Booker IV, league sources confirmed Tuesday afternoon.
The trade comes as GM Tom Telesco and head coach Antonio Pierce continue reshaping the Raiders' defense with a focus on trench dominance, depth, and physicality. The addition of Booker IV gives Las Vegas a young, high-motor interior presence to fortify the rotation behind Maxx Crosby, Christian Wilkins, and Tyree Wilson.
“This was about building strength where it counts — in the middle,” said a team source.
“Booker’s upside fits perfectly with our defensive line philosophy.”
Thomas Booker IV, a former fifth-round pick out of Stanford, is known for his versatility, intelligence, and effort on every snap. While he saw limited action in Philadelphia, the Raiders believe the 24-year-old DT has untapped potential — especially under defensive coordinator Patrick Graham’s aggressive scheme.
As for Jakorian Bennett, the 2023 fourth-round corner showed flashes during his two seasons in Silver & Black, but inconsistent play and depth chart movement limited his role. With veterans like Jack Jones, Nate Hobbs, and Jakobi Meyers solidifying the secondary, Bennett became a trade chip for much-needed front-seven help.
“We thank Jakorian for his energy and hard work,” the Raiders said in a team statement.
“We wish him continued success in Philadelphia.”
This trade reflects a growing emphasis on defensive toughness and identity as the Raiders aim to climb the AFC West ladder. With Booker IV now in silver and black, all eyes are on how quickly he can contribute in camp — and whether this move sets the tone
