The Rangers and Ryan Lindgren are likely to finalize a new deal before the scheduled arbitration hearing.

Ryan Lindgren and the New York Rangers are close to striking a new deal.

According to Arthur Staple of The Athletic, there have been regular talks between the Rangers and Lindgren as a new contract should be finalized before an arbitration hearing is supposed to take place.

“Lindgren’s arbitration hearing is slated for Aug. 2,” Staple writes. “So that’s probably the deadline by which you’ll see agreement on what will most likely be a one-year deal in the vicinity of Lindgren’s $3.6 million qualifying offer.”

While Lindgren filed for arbitration, that shouldn't concern any Rangers fans since it’s almost a certainty he will be back in New York next season.

The Rangers didn’t make any changes to their defensive core this offseason, which means Lingren will likely play a similar role to what he has been accustomed to.

This past year, the 26-year-old recorded three goals, 14 assists and 17 points in 76 games while averaging 19:21 minutes of ice time.

New York also recently re-signed both Braden Schneider and Chad Ruhwedel.
