Rashid Shaheed's 70-yard touchdown catch is the Saints Play of the Day

We're up to Day 70 in our countdown to the New Orleans Saints' season opener, which means our pick for the Saints Play of the Day is this 70-yard touchdown pass from Derek Carr to Rashid Shaheed. You can see the play here, but the whole highlight reel is worth watching. The Saints routed the Dallas Cowboys in Week 2 last season. Hopefully they can do the same when the Arizona Cardinals visit this September.

It was a great play by all involved. Carr executed the play action fake and drove upfield, stepping up in the pocket under pressure; he took a big hit from rookie defensive tackle Osa Odighizuwa after the throw, but it was worth it. His pass hit Shaheed in stride and the receiver strode untouched into the end zone with a pair of Cowboys defenders trailing him.

This gave the Saints a lead they wouldn't relinquish. By the end of the afternoon, they outscored the Cowboys 44-19 and outgained Dallas by 432 yards to 353. It was everything we hoped to see out of them: an efficient passing attack (Carr only threw 16 passes, completing 11 of them for 243 yards) and effective running game that attacked the defense from all angles. The defense buckled down and twice stopped the Cowboys on fourth down, too.

It's just a shame they couldn't sustain this success. Injuries hammered New Orleans and their season never returned to these heights, but on this afternoon in Week 2? Things were good, and Shaheed's big play was a big part of it.
